What are Custom Surveys?

With Custom Surveys, you now have the flexibility to create and send surveys tailored to your specific needs and gather feedback on a variety of topics, address specific concerns, or collect additional insights that matter the most to your organization.

They can be very useful for conducting onboarding and exit interviews, due to the fact that they can be sent to selected employees only.

The flexibility and customization options will help you address specific areas of improvement and drive positive change.

You don't have to give up the Employee Engagement Index if you need additional questions alongside the predefined ones. With custom surveys you can have both.

How to create Custom Survey

Step 1: Accessing Custom Surveys

Navigate to the Custom surveys tab in the navigation bar:

This page will display all your custom surveys, providing admins with details such as:

  • Survey title

  • Status (one of 4), date and time of sending

  • Response rate

  • Created by

  • Details button which shows questions and answers in that survey

  • Edit and Delete options

  • Download button

  • Create template

Surveys can have one of the four statuses:

1. Scheduled - the survey is waiting to be sent

Admins have the following options for pending surveys:

  • Survey details

  • Edit survey - modify the entire survey, including questions, title, expiration date etc.

  • Delete survey - admins can delete only the surveys that they created

  • Create template

2. Sent - the survey has been sent

Admins have the following options for sent surveys:

  • Survey details

  • Download survey info

  • Create template

3. Expired - the survey has expired and employees can no longer answer it

Admins have the following options for expired surveys:

  • Survey details

  • Download survey info

  • Create template

4. Sending - the survey is currently being sent

Admins have the following options for sending surveys:

  • Survey details

  • Create template

By clicking the download button, admins will get an XLS file with the data and 2 tabs:

  1. Survey details tab - contains questions and answers from the selected survey

  2. Survey results tab - contains employee details:

  • First name

  • Last name

  • Contact information (email or phone number)

  • Teams of the employee that answered

  • Date of response

  • Questions and answers.

You can filter surveys based on the following criteria:

  • survey creator

  • survey status

and, search surveys by their title.

Step 2: Creating a new custom survey

Click on "Create new survey".

Step 3: Fill out basic information

Provide the survey's Title and Description.

Then select whether it will be sent company-wide, to specific teams or specific employees. Sending custom surveys to specific employees can be useful for conducting onboarding or exit interviews.

Additionally, choose whether the survey will be anonymous.

Step 4: Define questions

Enter your Questions and Answers in this section. You can add up to 50 questions by clicking the plus sign, each of which can be marked as required or optional by switching the toggle button under the question. You can duplicate, delete, and rearrange questions using the drag-and-drop feature.

For answers, choose from three types:

  • Multiple-choice select questions with up to 10 answers

  • Single-choice select questions with up to 10 answers

  • Open-question box with up to 2048 characters

You can rearrange the order of answers using the drag-and-drop feature.

Step 5: Select sending time

Choose the time you want the survey to be sent. The survey can be sent at any time except when the company is conducting its regular pulse check survey.

You have two options:

  1. Send now: Enter the Expiration date (date and time) which can be set as early as the next day and up to 30 days after the sending time. After the expiration date, employees can no longer respond to the survey.

  2. Schedule send: Enter the Schedule date (date and time) and expiration date (same rules apply).

Step 6: Preview

Review all the entered data and selected options on this page before saving the survey.

How will employees receive the survey?

Employees will receive the custom survey via the channel they are already using for the regular pulse check surveys.

Then they would click on the link and it would take them to the application page of the survey so they can answer the survey.

Employees will be informed if the survey is anonymous or not. If it is anonymous, then admins won’t have details about them when seeing the results of the survey.

Templates

Newest addition to the Custom surveys is the option to create and use Templates.

You can do so by clicking the "Templates" button that opens the view shown in the photo below:

Here, you have the "Create new template" button that opens the page where you can create your new template:

Additionally, you have 4 buttons for each saved template:

  • Details

  • Create survey from this template

  • Edit this template

  • Delete this template
